Today we are thrilled to bring you Ameet and Michael’s sweet Washington DC wedding highlight reel from Elman Adam Films!
Ameet and Michael’s busy wedding day began with their baraat and Sikh ceremony at the Gurdwara of Washington DC. The wedding was steeped in traditional and a rich cultural history. Ameet’s family happily translated the ceremony as Michael’s family eagerly watched. Love flowed as we continued our day to the Omni Shoreham for their outdoor Christian ceremony. As Ameet made her way down the aisle, dressed in a stunning white gown, on one side of the aisle stood one family looking directly across at the other. Ameet and Michael in the center, joined them in love.
Ameet and Michael you’re two of the most kind, optimistic, and positive people I’ve ever met. Your wedding day was just as beautiful as the two of you. You reveled in each other and focused on what really mattered: marriage. It was an honor being your wedding planner!
We’re so excited to bring you another addition of Bridalwear Unwrapped! Alka and Ravi very generously have shared the details of their bridal outfits and accessories!
1. Where did you get your ceremony outfit from? Do the colors have any significance?
Both outfits were designed by Pinky Chopra, a designer who lives on Long Island. It was fun because I got to help pick the design and the style as Pinky sketched it out. The red, green and white are traditional colors worn by Gujarati brides. I opted for a lengha instead of a sari because it is more modern. Ravi got his outfit from Nazranna in Edison, New Jersey. It is simple and elegant. He picked the color and style as well. In other words, none of our outfits were “off the rack” and represented our personalities in them!
2. Where did Ravi get your ring from?
Ravi designed my ring at Ultimate Jewelry Design in New York City. The funny thing is we never discussed rings, styles, diamonds, etc. before we got engaged and he designed exactly what I had always wanted.
3. Where is your ceremony jewelery from- has any of it been passed down in your family?
My ceremony necklace belongs to Ravi’s grandmother. My cousins in Mumbai sent my bangles, and my earrings + tikka came from Edison, NJ.
4. Where did you get your reception outfit from?
Pinky Chopra. Once again I got to help design the style and colors. I chose white as the base to represent the fusion between western + Indian tradition – the “traditional white dress” and I liked gold because it is very elegant.
5. Any other details you would like to “unwrap”?
The necklace I wore at the reception is also Ravi’s grandmothers. The earrings I wore were a wedding gift from Ravi. My shoes were gold sandals by Alice + Olivia which I feel in love with as soon as I saw them.
