We rarely publish personal posts on the blog, but ‘tis the season, and we would like to share a little bit of us with all of you. So, as I sit on my 45 minute metro ride home, I thought about how 2014 has flown by. It seems like yesterday we were getting ready for our Spring 2014 weddings, and as I look out the window today, the leaves are falling, and the year has almost come to an end.
So here we are, late November, and I think about how wonderful 2014 has been. It has been a year like any other year with ups and downs, successes and hurdles both professionally and personally. Through it all, my friends and family have been by my side, carrying me through the year. Floating. I guess that’s what an excellent support system does – carries you on their shoulders while you “float” across the terrain. I am so incredibly thankful for all the people I call my family, including my friends who really are a part of my larger family. It’s with each of you that I find myself laughing so hard I cry. Thank you for an incredible and unforgettable year. While I cannot share Thanksgiving with all my loved ones, I will certainly be thinking about all of you and looking forward to catching up at some point during the holidays to make bigger and better memories.
I think that my partner, Neeva deserves a shout out here. One, for being an awesome partner, and partner-in-crime. Just kidding, we don’t commit crimes. But really, for opening up her home to many of our friends to celebrate the holidays and host an incredible Toys for Tots drive. Ever heard of Toys for Tots? If not, please check out this link and consider getting involved with such a worthy cause.
As I come closer to my metro stop, I want to take a moment to wish all of our blog readers a very happy Thanksgiving filled with food, family, and football. So, I leave you now, as I go to cook with Gaurav and begin to stuff my face for the next three days. Until next time…
For the past few weeks, Sunny and I have been making a conscious effort to slow down. To press pause and to savor life. To gorge ourselves on every sweet thing this life has to offer. And to give thanks for every bit of it every step of the way, for life moves fast. So incredibly fast.
Today we’re taking a few extra moments to pause and step away from our busy schedules to celebrate. We will be celebrating life, love, dreams and most importantly- each other. Three years into wedded bliss. With a heart filled with gratitude, we bow our heads and give thanks. Thanks for the laughter, the perseverance, the dreams and most importantly, the unconditional love.
I (Anjali) can honestly say the best part of wedding planning is the honeymoon planning! The honeymoon is the first trip you take as an officially married couple, and is one of the happiest time in couple’s lives. Gaurav understood the stresses involved with wedding planning alone, and at that time, I had recently accepted a new position at work, so life was even more hectic than usual. With all this in mind, he planned an all-inclusive getaway for us to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
For us, this was the BEST vacation we could have chosen at that time. Numerous beaches, pools, sunshine, warmth, and unlimited food. Yes, 24 hours of unlimited food. Needless to say, Gaurav and I divulged into all sorts of treats while relaxing poolside and beachside. While the resort we stayed in offered a number of activities – shows, scuba diving, massages, darts, photography, and a number of other fun items, we chose to play each day by ear. So, we played some games with other couples (I actually won at darts!) and we got a couples massage and ventured off the resort briefly to get some trinkets. Overall, our honeymoon was extremely relaxing, but the perfect time for us to take in all the recent changes in our lives and refresh ourselves. Punta Cana was gorgeous – here are some of our pictures, although not professional, still make us want to go back all the time!
We’ve heard you loud and clear! You like reading about us on a personal level- about our adventures, travels and life in general. So this year we promise to bring you just that! As you may know, Sunny and I (Neeva) traveled to Paris last year to celebrate love and life. One of the things I absolutely wanted to do in Paris was to visit the lock bridge and take part in the love lock tradition.
For those of you who haven’t heard of the tradition, here’s the story. A couple writes their names on a padlock and locks it onto one of the bridges. They then throw the key into the Seine River as a symbol of their undying love!
